Why Can't People Meet God?
(Acts4:12)
People are unhappy because they are separated from God. Life apart from God brings misery. Then, why can't people meet God?
1. It is because people have been separated from God.
(1) Their spirits are dead(Eph.2:1)
(2) Spiritual death means that God's spirit has left them.
- In the beginning, man was with God's spirit(Gen.1:27)
- After the fall, God's spirit left him and he became spiritually dead. Therefore,
without a constant blood sacrifice, man is immediately cursed(Cain).
- Since God's spirit has left him, Satan's spirit entered and came to control
him(1Cor.2:12).
(3) They became ignorant of God's will because their knowledge and wisdom have
become darkened(2Thes.2:10-11)
(4) Even though they come to hear the Word of God, they cannot understand it
(2Cor.4:4-5).
2. People struggle to meet God.
(1) Only human beings were given spirits, so there is a natural longing to seek God.
(2) People think that if they are sincere, they can meet God, but they fail to do so.
(3) People think that religion is the answer, so they zealously follow religious rituals
(Mt.12:43-45).
(4) People try to meet God through philosophy, but they fail and become even more
empty(Col.2:8-9)
(5) People cannot meet God while they are still in the state of original sin.
3. If you are not saved, you cannot meet God.
(1) You must be saved first to meet God.
(2) Without being born again, you cannot see God(Jn.3:3-5)
(3) Salvation means freedom from Satan's hold.
(4) Salvation means coming out of the bondage of sin.
(5) Salvation means freedom from the power of hell.
(6) Hell is the place designated for Satan's children(Mt.25:41)
(7) But heaven is the place for God's children.
4. Just as a corpse cannot move, a dead soul's efforts are useless.
(1) The efforts of the unsaved may result in external changes.
(2) But these efforts, no matter how good, do not merit salvation.
(3) Nothing on earth is worthy enough to gain heaven.
5. Why are your efforts insufficient for salvation?
(1) You cannot revive your spirit with your own efforts.
(2) You cannot revive your spirit with the help of others.
(3) No hero has ever been sent to the earth to defeat Satan(Acts.4:12)
(4) Salvation is given only by the grace of God(Eph.2:8-9)
6. Healing-Bad dreams
(1) Health problem-regular exercise, orderly life, nutrition
(2) Meditative prayer-meditation
(3) Timely prayer-Dan.6:10, 22; Gen.13:8, Acts.3:1, 16:16-31
